Yale GSA seeks to foster an informed citizenry and to encourage meaningful civic engagement. The state of Connecticut is governed by a bicameral General Assembly as well as a Governor. At the federal level, like all states, Connecticut has two senators and the city of New Haven has one representative. A mayor and city council, called the Board of Alders, manage affairs for The City of New Haven. Each alder represents one ward or community. The best way to get involved in your community is through community management meetings, where you can meet your neighbors, learn about their concerns, and contribute to community problem solving.
