Committees: Diversity Equity, and Inclusion

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is responsible for evaluating and recommending changes to the GSA and the entire GSAS to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Current Initiatives

  • Working to improve DGS training processes and create minimally essential outlines for department handbooks

  • Collaborating with the International Students Committee and the Facilities and Healthcare Committee to advocate for the rights and protections of international students

  • Creating an accessible set of tools for students to navigate through the newly developed GSA website

  • Assessing the diversity of GSA representatives to ensure that the backgrounds of GSA representatives is reflective of the larger graduate student body

  • Reviewing the exit survey for students who leave the university before they graduate to inform innovative ways to increase retention

  • Advocating for faculty members to complete DEI training and advising-related training
